Learn About Chace's Fight
Chace Lyman Johnson
Our loving son and brother, Chace, was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer just a week after running the Twin Cities Marathon. He was 24 years old. For the next 3+ years Chace courageously fought this disease, enduring 5 surgeries, 4 chemo treatments and a clinical trial. He passed January 2015 at the age of 28.
Chace, “The Warrior”, lived his life to the fullest and would not let cancer define him. Chace lived and worked his normal life as much as his condition could physically allow, caring for himself and working at Piper Jaffray. If that wasn’t enough, Chace also pursued his MBA getting accepted into the the University of Chicago, Booth’s weekend MBA program, which required a flight to and from Chicago each Saturday for class. As Chace’s strength weakened, some of his more physical activities transitioned into some more artistic talents! Chace developed an interest and love for painting. More specifically, Chace spent many special nights at paint events with his mother and brother. Painting seemed to be the only time where Chace could relax and forget about his physical condition.
